2011 Tournament – Planning
As we move into the 2011 tournament, we, the South Macomb teams, can submit feedback/suggestions that can be posted to this site. While planning the next tournament, the committee, made up of all participating teams, can consider feedback and suggestions for all future tournaments. For feedback/suggestions, please email Liz Willoughby at lwilloughby@brainfuse.com.
1. Schedule Water Rockets later in the day in hopes of more warmth!
2. Schedule events which take longer to score, earlier in the day.
3. Ensure all doors are locked prior to testing and coordinate the unlocking of rooms for event competitions.
4. Establish a venue for the coming year while planning current tournament and designate a tournament director.
5. If we sell Science Olympiad materials at the event, give them a visible spot and announce it on the PA.
6. At initial tournament meeting, discuss the resources available to S. Macomb head coaches (website, access to old tests, etc.). Also, help struggling teams by providing tips, advice (ensure all event coaches on each team has access to rules and tips for head coach to ensure their event coaches are aware of the rules so we avoid the ‘catapult’ situation from 2010).
7. Ensure all tests have proper tie breaker questions (e.g., two essay questions).
8. Ensure there is proper parking for county supervisors.
9. Ensure we provide some sort of lunch for event supervisors when they come in for score counceling.
10. Team pictures coordination–is this something we would like to do for upcoming tournaments?
11. Will we have a banner walk in the beginning AND the end of each tournament?
